Darren Juniper “As a child I was surrounded by music and there were always plenty of musical instruments around to play with. When listening to records it was always the bassline that jumped out and moved me. A lot of bass players are seen as ‘failed’ guitarists but this wasn’t the case for me. I had no interest in playing 6 string guitar, I was always going to be a bass player. I turned pro at 20 and have had some of the best times of my life on the road playing with great musicians in some fantastic venues around the world. As I’ve grown older I’ve been more interested in getting back to the roots of popular music, music in it’s rawest forms and this has brought me back to rock ‘n’ roll. This was the seed from which the idea for The Goldstar Rock ‘n’ Roll Band grew. It gives me the chance to spend more time with my favourite instrument, the double bass or ‘steam’ bass as Bam Bam likes to call it!”
